Where the S07 Wins, and Where It Doesn’t
The Deepal S07 handles this route comfortably if you’re travelling at a realistic pace, breaking the drive up naturally and not racing against the clock. It’s a strong fit for buyers who want lower running costs on a trip they already plan to split over two days. Where it’s a harder sell is for anyone who wants to drive straight through with minimal stops, or who’s travelling at odd hours when charger availability on quieter stretches of the N1 can’t be confirmed in advance. It’s also worth checking real-time charger status before you leave using apps like GridCars’ ChargePocket, and keeping an eye on grid conditions via tools like Electricity Maps if you’re charging at home before departure. South Africa’s Green Transport Strategy has set targets for growing EV infrastructure nationally, but coverage on inter-provincial routes is still a work in progress rather than a finished network.
