Haval is the dedicated SUV sub-brand of Great Wall Motor (GWM), spun off as an independent marque in 2013. Based in Baoding, China, Haval was purpose-built to compete at the premium end of the SUV segment — a strategy that has paid off spectacularly, making it one of the best-selling SUV brands in China and one of the most recognisable Chinese automotive names globally.

Haval entered South Africa alongside its parent company GWM and has since become one of the most successful Chinese brands in the country. The local range includes the iconic H6, H6 GT, H6 GT PHEV, H7, H7 Black Edition, Jolion, and Jolion Pro. These models are known for delivering high-spec interiors, advanced driver-assistance systems, and strong performance at prices that often undercut comparable European and Japanese rivals.

The Haval H6 GT PHEV is particularly notable for its claimed 4.9-second 0–100 km/h and approximately 1,000 km combined range, making it one of the most technically impressive vehicles in its class in SA.
